You know you have a Newborn when...

You have learned to survive on 4 hours of sleep a night.

Your clothes are covered in spit-up but you don't care because you've already changed your shirt 3 times.

You turn off the shower every 30 seconds because you think you hear crying.

Getting out of the house is a rare treat.

You rarely wear anything besides sweats.

Make-up? What's that?

You talk to everyone, including adults, in a high-pitched baby voice.

You are writing this post at 3:00 a.m. while watching an infomercial for Insanity.

You stare at your baby for hours and marvel at how cute he is.

5 weeks

I can't believe my little guy is 5 weeks old already! He is growing so fast. He has moved on to his size 1 diapers and he's in 0-3 month clothes. We think he's probably close to 10 pounds already! What a chubster. He's starting to sleep longer stretches at night. The last two nights he has gone 4 1/2 hours in between feedings. That makes one happy and slightly less sleep deprived mommy. He makes the most hilarious faces and keeps us laughing every day. We are still waiting for that first real smile! He loves to be cuddled and will often cry when I try to put him down for naps. I love snuggling with him but he makes it hard for me to get anything done! We took him to church for the first time and he almost made it through all 3 hours. He started screaming when there was about 20 minutes left. He loves to play with his rattle and when we lay him on the floor he will often turn his head toward the tv. We often have it turned onto ESPN, so we're pretty sure he must like sports already! And now, a few pictures.

Shawn's first book. This is my favorite book from my childhood!

And my personal favorite...an action shot:

We sure do love this little guy! Sometimes I look at him and think, "Is this really my baby?" Being a mom is definitely the best and hardest job I've ever done.
